Lorinda Grant
Bendigo, VIC
The daughter of fourth-generation wool-growers, Lorinda Grant (b.1974) has lived in regional Victoria most of her life. She is a fashion designer best known for her signature use of wool in creating felted and knitted garments. After studying at the Melbourne School of Fashion, Grant established her label in 2000 and began to wholesale into fashion outlets such as Andrea Gold, Perugia, T.L. Wood and Zambesi.
The rich history of the wool industry in Australia informs much of Grant’s philosophy. Working almost exclusively in hand-spun dyed wool and unspun/ undyed yarn, she maintains strong ties to her country roots and sources fine merino wool from local suppliers. In order to meet growing demands, the label has become something of a family business – her mother manages a dedicated team of some 70 part-time knitters in the Bendigo region, while her father makes the signature pins that are attached to every garment.
