Alexander Lotersztain
Brisbane, QLD
Alexander Lotersztain (b.1977) holds most of his meetings in cafs and is rarely without his portable design studio of laptop, mobile phone and sketchbook. A genuine global nomad, Lotersztain was born in Argentina to Polish parents and travelled extensively as a child. He moved from Buenos Aires to Brisbane in 1998, completed a design degree, and then worked in Japan for a year, designing products for Sputnik and Ide.
Since returning to Brisbane, Lotersztain has continued to spend a month or more in Europe every year maintaining his now extensive industry networks. He is currently working on a range of design projects for companies in the United States, Italy and Australia.
Heading InAfrica Community Foundation’s design team is another exciting and fulfilling challenge. Lotersztain works directly with village communities in rural Africa to develop commercially viable design products that can be made by local artisans, utilising local materials, for international export markets.
