Nick Rennie

Nick Rennie (b.1974) graduated from Melbourne’s RMIT University in 2000. From the outset Rennie has produced consistently ‘publishable’ work and has been able to achieve significant international exposure through the design media. Prototype pieces were often accepted as manufactured ones, which only served to fuel his passion to explore the possibilities of international production.
By establishing his own studio, Happy Finish Design in 2002, Rennie cemented his intention to harness his early international recognition as a furniture and product designer, and turn it into a sustainable commercial success. He achieved this by committing himself to the continued production of prototype products, most of which were handmade by Rennie or resolved within the local Melbourne manufacturing base.
Rennie exhibited regularly at trade and design fairs in Europe and Asia, including the Milan International Furniture Fair, to make inroads with manufacturers. Much of his work is now prototyped in Japan, where several products are being developed commercially.
